Is it really 24 days since my previous entry, when Jezebel came into my life. It has been on continuous play ever since. My days have begun at 3:30am with a two hout drive to meet some buffalo in a field. Now my days begin at 4:30am because it is only a one hour drive to the slaughter house. Some of them just weren't going to make it.
Lots of things have been happening. We have had the first rains, which were beautiful, but now make the mornings soggy - like it isn't hard enough wondering where the elephants and lions are at that time of day / night. The elephants have put their trunk on the window a few times. I have had a large mouse-like creature venturing inside to keep out of the rain. I have been writing grants, and dodging supervisors and feeling angry when people just won't let me sleep. Can't you just turn that music DOWN!
But today is my sister's birthday. She makes me feel old, because it seems that she is always older now than I remember - which makes me older than I remember. But I am going to phone her now and say hello. I have been looking forward to it all day.
It makes me smile.
And in one week my mum arrives - after two years away. I can't wait to see her. Thanks mum for travelling. I guess that is love.
