Playing in the orchestra is fun.
I love it.
I look forward to it.

But occasionally I find it extremely confusing. Like today. We were playing at an Afrikaans festival on stage at a cricket field. It was the final 'pops' concert. (cue television soap stars trying to sing traditional folks songs and Freddie Mercury classics).

The crowd went wild. It was like watching a few thousand people enjoy singing 'Mary had a little lamb' followed by ' Baa baa black sheep.'

I was dumbfounded, confused and quite taken aback. That is what it is like to live in a country where you simply do not understand the common man. The language, the music, the passion.

But that is what it is like to travel, and live, and experience the desires of another race.

Bring on Aardklop 2007!!!!
