Loy Krathong is one of the most beautiful festivals that takes place in Thailand. This is celebrated on the full moon in November, and that has been over the last 2 days here.  The word loy means to float, and a krathong is a banana leaf cup. Local people and Farangs [like me] place a candle and incense sticks in their krathongs and then float them on the local river Ping.

As they push away their krathong, they ask for forgiveness in polluting the waterways and also for good luck in the coming months.

Apart from a few more Elephant pictures this next blog is going to be about the festival.

There are many things that happen here building up to Loy Krathong.  The energy builds in the locals, and their work increases as they gear up for many thousands of tourists.  Then over the day before and for the next few days the prices of everything goes up!

The things I have seen, heard and smelled have been amazing!  I think nearly all the girls here are suitable as fashion models.  Great looking people really.  Very few fatties like me, and in fact they find it fun to make fun of me.

I have had my belly rubbed so many times, and my man breasts squeezed a good few times as well.  They laugh and say something in Thai and laugh some more.  I just smile like a stupid Farang.  Several kind people have suggested I not eat so much or that I go on a diet.  Hahaha, after seeing some of my photos I can see why.

But it is all in good fun, and I have never found anyone here deliberately out to cause me any harm.

My mustache is very challenging in the heat here.  Itchy and scratchy!  But I persist... Might even keep it.

When I first arrived most of the girls wore very little, it was great.  Now it is nearly winter for them and they have like jeans, jackets, big huge coats.  Crazy.  Maybe it got as low as 20 degrees Celsius last night.  Days are around 28 degrees.

My site meter tells me there have been a few hundred hits so far, so thanks to everyone who is following my adventure in Thailand.  I hope you are having fun with me.

Lots of love
