So have just left Rio and Brazil for that matter. Rio was really an amazing city. I think the other city's on my route will find it hard to top it. It really isn´t as scary as the hipe it gets. There´s something very magical about it. Visually its brilliant, largely because the city is full of mountains against the sea. Amazing views from the mountains. The family I stayed with were really lovely and made me feel so welcome. I think I was really lucky to have stayed there for the first part. Met alot of lovely Rio people. A very diverse country
I found the flavelas (like the city of God)and the history attached really fascinating, the tiny houses are just piled one on top of the other, all different colour's. Apparently you can take tours there, I´d love to do that. Again I didn't get a photo as i was in a taxi but i drew a picture instead.
It was a major culture shock though, hardly anyone speaks english and I thought Portugese was very hard to understand. I got lost one day in the centre, I´d ask someone where this street was. They´d say ´bibble bibble babble babble bibble´. I´d say thanks, pretend I knew what they were saying as it´s easier and wander round for another two hours. It literally took me 4 hours to find one street.
Anyways next stop Buenos Aires. I arrived last Wednesday (14th Nov)
