Today was muuuch better! It started with me getting a lie-in (admittedly that's because I just happened to ignore my alarm when it went off but whatever, no one came and woke me up so it was all good) and then, after I eventually got up and had breakfast and got Metta dressed (that took about two hours because we had to go through about four outfits before she decided what to wear. Girls!) we went out to the park. On the way there I was excited by the fact that, in our absence, many of the shops that had been closed for holidays (which apparently last about two months for shops here), were now open, most notably the crepe/ waffle shop. My life here now has meaning.
When we arrived at the park Metta's friend Sara was there and her brother Francesco, who is friends with Millo, so they all played together leaving me to sit on a bench basking in the sun (you know, topping up that tan that I so have...). That was another thing that made the day good; the weather was lovely! Last night, on skype the parentals (after a two week-long break from talking to them, I realised last night just how much I rely on familial skype sessions to maintain my sanity!) asked if it was beginning to look like spring here and I couldn't answer, having not been out since we returned. I am happy to say that I am now in a position to say that yes, yes it IS beginning to look like spring. Actually, more like a Scottish summer. In fact, so much like one that Livia complained it was too hot. Still, we all know how difficult it is to make her happy. I, on the other hand could practically feel my body filling with happy endorphins.
In the afternoon, after having lunch at Sara's house, we went to the cinema to see an Italian version of Pinocchio by Enzo D'Alo. It was nowhere near as good as the Disney version and there was a bit with clowns and things like that that made me feel like I was on an acid trip (or what I imagine one would be like) not to mention the fact that the clowns were downright creepy.
Anyway, the only two down points were that dinner was a bit of a strange one (Livia told me to do semolina then mix in this carrot thing and it all went a bit weird, but I still made it look nice by cooking it in rose-shaped molds, because, you know, nothing shaped like a flower can taste bad...) and then Millo had a hissy fit because Livia wouldn't let him have biscuits and obviously the natural solution was to punch me. Hard. Sigh!
Oh well, up early tomorrow for the school run. There's just enough time for me to watch '101 Dalmatians' before I go to sleep (there's always time for '101 Dalmatians' really)
