Oh my was it cold today! Scotland's February's have nothing on Cortona today. It was a full blown snow and wind affair. Weirdly enough and contrary to what you would imagine, I went outside today more than I do on a normal day. Firstly I took Metta to school, then Maelys and I went to the shop. Then Maelys and I went out again because she realized she didn't have the money for what she wanted to buy... Still it was fine. I got some more shower gel so life is good.
As for the interior goings on of today, Annetta and I cooked something new; a pumpkin mold. Sounds fairly gross, was not great either. It wasn't bad it just wasn't how it was supposed to be. It was supposed to be like a sort of pie/cake thang. In reality it was a dish of slightly watery pumpkin goop. Yum!
Metta's cello lesson was here today. That meant the rest of us were blessed with the melodious sound of two children murdering instruments for an hour. I jest. They weren't that bad, but I will admit, I'm glad Metta isn't tempted to practice during the week.
After the cello lesson, I spent what turned out to be quite a nice afternoon with both kids. No crying, no fighting and  no one telling me they hate me (which is a habit Metta has gotten in to). In fact, better than that, Metta let me look inside her notebook which she "only lets people [she] likes look inside". So boom!
The good afternoon continued into the evening, right up until story time. I'm not bad at telling the kids stories but when there are adults in the room I feel like a bit of a moron and thus my literary skills fail me. Unfortunately, Livia is only in the room when there is an adult in the room (unsurprising really, what with her being an adult and all) and so thinks I'm not good at it. I've just been informed by Maelys that tomorrow Annetta has to tell the story because Maelys and I aren't very good. I'm not upset because I don't enjoy it all that much, but it's a little insulting. Metta enjoys my stories and surely that's all that matters. I'm a bit gutted because tomorrow I was going to bring out the mother of all stories. It was going to be about flying pirate princes who could spin spider webs, defeat evil people with their venomous x-ray eyes and who also, as a passtime, knitted jumpers for homeless ladybirds. Buuuut, now they'll never get to hear the story. Shame. It was a real corker.
A final note for this entry. I would like to tell you, in a very hesitant manner, that I think the painting may be done. I'm not sure, because I haven't talk to Livia about it today, but as far as I'm concerned it's done (thank God!). I think it's safe to say that, due to this project, I won't be painting again for the best part of my life...
