Still, before I can do that, here is my recap of today's stimulating events. First of all, an observsation; the weather here borders on schizophrenic. A few days ago it was snowing, then there was rain, then sun and then today it decided to flip between freezing and cloudy, snd mild and sunny. It's exhausting trying to keep up with it! I'll bet the number of mental breakdowns in weather reporters is significantly higher here than in Britain (where the most strenuous weather report is generally something along the lines of "today it will be slightly less cold than yesterday but otherwise the same as always").
I mentioned early on in this blog that I was going to have thighs of steel by the time I returned. I realised today that the same probably goes for my arms too
A slight alteration to an otherwise typical day; a friend of Livia and Luca's came to lunch today (she got to try those delightful rice balls, lucky lady) which was nice, but brief.
At about three o'clock Maelys and I walked into the main square with the intention of doing a little shopping (nothing exciting. just everyday bits and bobs). Unfortunately, Cortona had apparently decided that working at three just wasn't done and so every shop was closed and the streets were pretty much deserted. If the place wasn't so quaint and safe-feeling it would have been quite eerie.
On returning from our productive turn about the town, Fiammetta came up and wanted me to play shop with her again. A feeling of mild dejection washed over me as I realised that this would mean spending multiple hours buying buttons and assorted U.P.Os (unidentified plastic objects). Thankfully it turned out we only had about ten minutes before we had to leave for her dance class so I was saved...today. God knows what make-believe horrors are in store for me tomorrow.
Dinner tonight was a bit of a risky one. We had about enough carrots to feed a small infestation of rabbits, but not much else, so I opened up the big recipe and chose the only recipe that sounded like a proper meal; carrot mold. Sounds vile, looked interesting and, thankfully, tasted pretty darn not too bad.
Now, on a closing note, you'll be fascinated, no doubt, to know, that I have decide I am going to try and write short children's books/stories for both of the kids. It may not happen because currently I have about as much inspiration as....something with very little inspiration. However, if they do come into existence I'll let you read them...maybe.
