Where I stayed
The view from the hostel made up for the wait- we ate our breakfast and dinners on the veranda overlooking a stunning bit of coastline. The hills were very typical for Greek islands, with olives, pomegranates, figs etc.
The backpackers was very much a family run place with kids and dogs running about and a si casa mi casa approach which suited us fine. The next day we spent on the beach, pausing to pick up thongs and hats. Once we had secured a prime waterfront position complete with recliners and unbrella (at a premium) we lolled about with books and icecreams and so on. Unsuprisingly, there were lots of Germans and Brits and other Europeans down for the sun. The roads on the island, ordinarily quiet, were busy with traffic from people who had driven down and caught a car ferry over.
That night we sat around at the hostel and talked to various other travelers and exchanged tales.
Getting a lift back into town to catch the ferry was as shambolic as getting there, but we made it in time and got on the boat to Igoumenitsa to start our sailing leg.
