Ton Sai was nice. The view was gorgeous - limestone cliffs and a aqua ocean streching out to distant islands with more limestone cliffs. The bungalows we stayed in were very basic, bamboo walls and a cold-water shower and seatless toilet in a dingy cement box... we've stayed in worse. And the price was right. However, because it's low season there were hardly any people and almost nothing at all to do. Lots of cute little kittens though, it must be kitten season ;o)
After two nights staying on Ton Sai Oli wanted me to see Railey, and so this morning we gathered our backpacks and crossed to Railey while the tide was still relatively low. (still got soaked though, oh well). We headed to Railey East, the somewhat cheaper side of a pretty expensive beach. I waited with the backpacks while Oli checked out some guesthouses in the area. When he came back he looked excited and a little bit guilty....
The guesthouse - RESORT I should say - that he found was gorgeous and expensive. Ok, not *that* expensive by western standards but when you're living on $40-$60/per day between two people you have to watch how you spend. In the end we decided to indulge ourselves because we're weak, and it really was a beautiful resort. We justified it in a hundred million different ways...but really it's just that we're weak and like to be spoilt. So for 2 nights we're checked into Sunrise Tropical Resort, $50/night including buffet breakfast and it is lovely. Search it up if you don't believe me!
