Urumqi - Sayram Lake.(Sailimu Lake)  545k's.
We're sorry we have been so behind with the blog but we are trying to get up to date now before we title the muddled photos from the previous five blogs.
A lovely clear day when we left at 8.15am this morning travelling all the way on great roads. Pollution is rife with us driving in and out of smoggy areas. Despite this, well tended crops have been growing on either side of the road all the way to the Lake.
Lunchtime arrived and Helen was asleep in the back so rather than disturb her we pulled off the road beside a grand building to boil the billy. She was a little surprised when she awoke and discovered we had chosen to eat at a morgue!
An obvious observation but the further west we travel the more 'western' the people are...music, dress, manners etc Urumqi from 12th floor, sunset

Hillsides of mounds, cone shaped and decorated with stones intrigued us until we discovered what they were... burial mounds.
Driving through some parts of the country was a little like travelling through Provence...plantings of grapes and poplars.
And then we saw them. The luxury yurts,  as we pulled into Sayram Lake. What an unusual fantastic evening we had in this beautiful isolated part of the country and we were the only guests!
