The panama canal is worth seeing When we were there we got to see a container ship and a submarine (rare event) pass through the canal from east to west. It's a very simple process of ships being dragged through the canal, and the locks are all operated via gravity from the two fresh water lakes inside the canal zone area. Its so simple, but so massive, its amazing.
We then went onto Gamboa park. Although when we got there it was lightning and thunder again and the monkey boat was not open. Bummer. Although we did get to see a lot of turtles, and a cayman, and I did get to put together a nice panorama of the rain forest. That should be up on my myspace account soon
Heather & Kelly were on their way to join us, and would arrive at 9pm that Sunday night. Via phone text messaging, and email we let them know we also reserved them a room at our hotel, and a driver would be waiting for them at the airport. We headed back, and had a few beers on our rooftop pool. It was a nice peaceful way to cool down at the end of the hot and humid day. Yes even though it was raining, it was still pretty hot to be outside.
Heather & Kelley arrived, and we quickly headed out onto the town. . Most of the restaurants were closed at 10pm on a Sunday night. Once again in search of authentic local food... this time found Italian. This restaurant staff greeted us in, was very friendly, and truly was a great dinner.
After that we headed out on the streets, but there was not much life going on a Sunday night. We too a taxi ride out to the cause way again, and found a marina bar open, so we stopped for drinks on the water. So conclusion is Panama City pretty much closes down for nightlife on a Sunday night.
