Where I stayed

I have spent this week resting in Pai! Pairadise, the lovely guesthouse I stayed in last year is again a wonderful place to stay. This year, Casey, an American yoga teacher I met last year, is teaching in the Sala in the lake! I can get out of bed and join the class at 9:00AM!  Actually, Casey's class was great! I have been to Bood's class also. This year, my very talented teacher from last winter has moved her class to the PS Riverside Sala (10:00AM daily). I have been twice already. I learn something new from her in every class. The classes are 2 hours, 200 Baht each. If you are looking for Yoga in Pai, you won't go wrong with either Casey or Bood's classes.

Saturday was the King of Thailand's Birthday. It is a holiday all week and Pai is crowded with Thai tourists. I don't care for the traffic jams and fumes, but I am enjoying seeing that the Thai people have discovered what the farangs for so long have known about and created in Pai. Pai has an unusual mix of Thai, Western, Muslim, and Hill Tribe people and culture living together respectfully and peacefully. Oh, if only the whole world were Pairadise!

That the evening walking market is so very crowded this week is I guess, a good thing for the local merchants. I couldn't even walk so I stopped in for a foot massage to watch the parade of people!

I had a nice reunion with my friends Wat and Jay! We have had dinner a few times. Wat took me on his scooter outside of town. We visited a lovely Burmese style temple, a waterfall and a local Chinese village. Thai families were enjoying the holiday everywhere.

Of course I was happy to visit Jay and Wat's home too. Leo and Singha were very excited to see me! I'll be in Pai, well, until I leave! After traveling full steam since October 17, I really deserve a rest!
