Where I stayed
After 5 very full Bangkok days, Mark and I still agree that the Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa is the best place to stay. We have stayed here in the past and will do so again. This hotel is an oasis of respite in this bustling metropolitan city of 10 million people. Situated on the Chao Praya River, it provides a convenient way to avoid the famous Bangkok traffic jams. The river is so very interesting. You can see every kind of floating vehicle imaginable. We have watched the large rice and oil barges, small wooden fishing junks, long tail boats, and many other kinds of oriental junks and boats.
The tropical pool and award winning gardens, exotic calming decor, and attentive service, make this 5 star hotel earn 6 stars in our review. The adjacent strip mall, popular with neighborhood Thai's provides convenient shopping, eateries, and best of all, great massage shops at really reasonable prices.
