Hi all,
Been a great few days! Lots to update you on.
Following visits of towns and markets round the Sacred Valley, we decided to head off towards Machu Picchu on the Inca Jungle Trek, an alternative route to the famous Inca Trail. Will have to update you properly another time, but in summary it involved:
Day 1:- Downhill bike from approx 3500m in the misty mountains to the Jungle at approx 1500m over a distance 80km.
Day 2:- 8 hour walk through the Jungle, past all kinds of plantations (coffee, coca, lots of fruits, etc...=, through little villages, up onto the Inca Trail (an extension of the famous one), through the valley of the Rio Urubamba to Santa Teresa, where we relaxed in some hot springs!
Day 3:- Walked along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes (aka Machu Picchu town)for approx 3 hrous . The guide then decided to take us on a walk up the Poto Cosi mountain to get an initial peak on Machu Picchu.
Day 4:- Machu Picchu!
