Buenas noches,

We went to Paradise and stayed there 3 days. Hucachina Oasis is all I wanted after our misadventure in Lima. An Oasis in the middle of Sand dunes (dunes de sable), a pristine hotel with swimming pool and friendly parrots and nice food and fresh fruits cocktails.

Some can say that this is not what backpacking is about but trust me Nick and Chris were on the same cloud!

We went on a Buggy ride in the dunes to do Sandboarding (surf des sables). At first I didn´t really want to leave my friends the parrot and the swimming pool but Nick and Chris convinced me that it would be fun. They were so right, the buggy ride was like being in a rollercoaster

! It was riding up and up a dunes to suddenly fall over the edge to high speed - not recommended if you have a bad back-.

Then we tried sandboarding, what a ball, I used mine on the stomach, head first straight down the slope and eat the sand! ha ha! Nick and Chris were proper snow/sandboarding but on the final slopes they did it on their stomach too as it goes faster!
Later Nick and Chris rented some sandboards and climbed up this big dune opposite the Hotel and slid down on the hotel doorstep bringing a whole beach back in their shoes and beards ha ha!! because they both have full hairy traveller´s beards!

The next day we were supposed to leave for Nazca where the famous lines you can only see by plane are but in a democratic decision (a little helped by the guys´s desire for more sandboarding adventures and my desire for nesting in a deckchair with a parrot on my shoulder)we decided to stay in Huacachina and skip Nazca and the famous lines...I know you wonder why but you HAVEN¨T been to Hucachina and The Huacachinero Hotel!!!!!

Anyway it was a very good call not to go to see this lines by plane as our friend Rafael send us a very alarming email from Lima as on this day a plane flyig over the lines crashed and killed four FRENCH tourists!!! Unbelievable, we were quite shaken by this as it happened on the day we wanted to do it!!!
