We had a long bus trip where an old lady kept vomiting in a plastic bag on the seat next to ours... sweeeat! I was green myself cos the road was bendy but Nick was fresh like a gardon!
We arrived in the afternoon and met with Christophe and a his friend and went out until 4am in restaurant and bars.
The ambiance is definitely great in Lima but not anymore when I got my handbag stolen the next day in an internet cafe. It is a quick reminder that when abroad, in a big capital, on another continent...you are just a Tourist with a big T or food for pickpockets and mean people. How many times did we hear about all the tricks and traps to steal your belongings? ten thousand at least
Well we were in an Internet cafe, left my bag to go to toilets on a chait next to Nick, Nick absorbed in writting emails, lady next to him drops coins on the floor, Nick picks up coins, bagīs gone, Nick thought I had it with me, jobīs done.
So we visited a Peruvian police station where loads of fellow travellers where there too. Rafael came to help us and make sure the police would not trick us also cos they often ask for money for the time and paper spent on us (huh?)
Anyway no more credit cards, no more camera (for me, we still have Nickīs big one) and a lot of anger for me cos it is the first time it happens to me. I then reclused myself in the hostel while Nick, Chris and Rafael went out in a Salsa club until late.
At this point I would like to thanks Nickīs parents for helping us with the procedures to get our credit cards sent back to us and Christophe of course for looking after us and giving us money for food and a ceiling above our head.
But not to worry, we still left for Paracas on the coast to go back to the see and the sun!
