i'm quite familiar and fond of Dali's art and was hoping to get out to the city where he lived and where there is a large collection of his work, but unfortunately i was unable to get out there.... but Gaudi's work throughout Barcelona kept me satisfied and busy enough! la Sagrada Familia is absolutely incredible... unfortunately he died before it was completed and they are still working on finishing it on the inside... so you pay 8€ and the inside is all scaffolding and construction, which sux... they say it could be another 15 years before its complete... the view from the outside is complete and awesome... from there we headed to Guille park (designed either by Gaudi or at least in his style)... his house was there but it wasn't very impressive cause it was just some of his works and the furniture he designed brought there from all over put into the house he lived in, rather that stuff that he actually had in his house while he lived there... the park is awesome though... so much to see... you think you've seen it all and then you turn around and something else catches your eye... its wikked...
Las Ramblas is a kewl pedestrian area that is filled with shops and street performers... mostly people in costumes... i've seen them all around europe, but none who has put so much thought into the costumes as the people in Barcelona... very elaborate and creative!
my last nite in barcelona was awesome fun... started out with 1€ 1.5L bottles of Sangria and a picnic in the park with 5 others from the hostel and ended with us playing Kings cup in the hostel games room till the wee hours of the morning with a bunch more fellow hostellers! i love the randomness of hostel living, the people that come together by total chance and end up having the greatest time...
heading to amsterdam for a nice visit with family before i head to ireland...
