one of the guys from the hostel and i decide to head out
to the Vatican on moday... not realizing that mondays and saturdays are the two busiest days, cause its closed on sundays... once again, awesome timing chantal!!.. we get there at 9:15 and the line up is already almost
3 hours long!!!! we really have no choice but to join a tour that jumps
the line up... it was 40€!!!! i can't say it was a rip off cause it was
a really good tour, but man, not really something i could afford! but
on the other hand, can i really forgive myself for missing the Vatican
City! the museum was pretty impressive, as was the sistine chapel
(managed to sneak a photograph or two), which i can't believe only took
4 years to finish.. sneaky photo of sistine chapel
sneaky photo of sistine chapel
. the hall of maps was pretty kewl too.. having made
those maps before there was anyway to have an aerial view of italy was
pretty impressive and very accurate... St Peter's Basilica was awesome
as well... absolutely gigantic... some of the relics they have are
pretty wild... the mosaics are incredible too... we went down to hte
crypt and saw where the popes are buried...oddly enough, Queen
Christina of Sweden is buried there as well, mostly its just popes and
stewards and other religious folk... it was an exhauting trip through
the Vatican city... so much impressive stuff to see and take in...
we killed the afternoon chilling in the park then got dinner and i jumped on the nite train to Venice...
