i can't say i cared much for Split.... i think a large part has to do with the hostel being one of the worst i've ever stayed at!! rooms, bathrooms and thats it... no common room, no kitchen, no computer room or anything... the only bed they had left was this rickety old army cot that was probably from the 50's right next to the window that they told me needed to stay open cause it gets stuffy otherwise... then they only give me just a sheet and a tiny little pillow... no proper blanket.. i was so pissed... to top it all off there is dog shit in the stairwell that no one bothered to pick up, and it just reeked!!! urg... but other than my shitty hostel... i walked up to these castle/monastery ruins which offered a beautiful view of the harbour, so that was lovely... the old town is a unesco world heritage sight which is Diocletian's palace and it really is quite impressive... kept as intact as possible, there were really kewl tiny alleys and streets twisting and turning... at nite there was this square leading down from this pub that had some live music... it was beautiful to hear the echo through the walls and square.. it was a saturday nite and there were quite a few weddings, so lots of people in formal gowns just stumbling around drunk, dancing and singing, that was entertaining... all in all, its an okay city, but nothing to rave about...
