spent four days here and i could stay for a lot longer and still enjoy it... so much to see and do, but also some great parks for relaxing... the weather my first 3 days could not have been nicer... walking through old town, down Charles bridge towards the castle with the sun blazing and buskers playing a wide variety of music... got off the nite train and dropped my bags at Sir Toby's... what a great hostel! a little out of the way from the city center, but well worth the extra miles.... ended up doing a 4 hour walking tour of the city, old town, jewish quarter, town square with the astronomical clock, charles bridge (the view from the tower is amazing!), John Lenon wall and then up to the castle... definitely saw all there was to see... i caught the fred and ginger house (dancing building) which was wikked to see... really unique architecture. the TV tower with faceless stone statues of babies crawling up and down... someone said its a poke at how television is raising our children.
next day me and one of the guys went out to Kutna Hora to see the bone church... it was a miserable day, rained the entire time! but it was well worth it... the church was stunning... the bones of over 40,000 people are intricately laid out... pyramids, a coat of arms, a chandelier... it was so impressive... while we were in kutna hora we did the silver mine tour which was pretty kewl as well... to see the conditions in which they worked was wild... also st barbory's cathedral.. can't say it was overly impressive... i think i may have seen my fill of cathedrals this trip!
4 legged car
. i got a kick outta that... i even managed to hunt down the 4 legged car!!! it took me a hell of a long time but i was persistent... its a normal sized car on 4 legs in the back area of the german embassy... you can only see it through a fence... but it was worth it... met some great people my first nite and spent my evenings partying with them... first nite just in the pub downstairs having a good time... and then next nite we decided to go out... one of the guys had heard of a punk band from the 80's playing... i was down for a good ol' fashion punk rock show... we got all the way down there and it was finished... granted it was after 1 am, so i guess we shouldn't have been surprised... so we just started walking around... made our way back to the main street and couldn't decide on a bar to go to so we just grabbed some beers and kept walking... made our way back to the area near our hostel by tram and went to this wikked club called the Cross Club... it was huge, 5 floors i think... dj area and dance stage and everything was made up of scrapyard type stuff... machine parts, gears, train parts you name it... it was absolutely brilliant to see... a lot of work definitely went into that place! next day me and one of the guys went out to Kutna Hora to see the bone church... it was a miserable day, rained the entire time! but it was well worth it... the church was stunning... the bones of over 40,000 people are intricately laid out... pyramids, a coat of arms, a chandelier... it was so impressive... while we were in kutna hora we did the silver mine tour which was pretty kewl as well... to see the conditions in which they worked was wild... also st barbory's cathedral.. can't say it was overly impressive... i think i may have seen my fill of cathedrals this trip!
