Built in the early 1900's Carbisdale Castle belonged to the dutchess of Sutherland.. It offered sanctuary for Norweigan royalty at some point and in the 1940's it was donated (artwork and all!!) to the Youth Hostel Association... this place is gigantic... i could not get over the enormity of it... on the second floor there is a table tennis table in the middle of the corridor, it takes up only a fraction of the walkway!  it made for a fairly wild and exhausting game that involved playing off of everything BUT the table.. running down the stairs, playing off the walls, windows... you name it... some of the rooms are apparently haunted... couldn't be a castle without a few resident ghosts right? can't say we saw any ghosts ourselves unfortunately... i'm bound and determined to see some kind of supernatural activity before my time is up here in Scotland! the view from the castle was unbelievable as well... we spent a bit of time outside before the damn midges drove us inside... think mosquitos but smaller and in swarms! i have no pictures from any point after the costume party, as my camera broke... i should be getting some photos from some of the others though... may take a while... so keep tuned...
