Edinburgh is absolutely stunning... the weather unfortunately isn't the greatest... but the beauty of the city makes up for it... The city isn't very big and easily walkable... It is very welcoming which is a nice change from London... i'm staying at the High Street Hostel which is awesome, super cheap with tons of added bonuses... there is a great network for travellers looking for work here... i will definetely be back (not sure when) but this would be a really great place to settle and work for a little while... i imagine the cold would be unpleasant, but hell, can it be any worse than back home? i guess the overcast and rain may get to me a little... we'll see...
i went to the national gallery, which was really kewl... got some good photos of the Castle and some churches...
i did the City of the Dead tour in the evening.. they are the only tour group that has keys to the black mausoleum... not as scary as i would have hoped... maybe i was one of the only ones on the tour who actually wanted to see some supernatural occurances...
i took the bus out to Roslin to see the Rosslyn Chapel... yeah, i know i'm a nerd... but besides it being the climactic location for Davinci's Code, it is a beaufitul chapel... undergoing massive renovations to dry out the stone, the outside view wasn't the greatest... but inside it is amazing... both the rosslyn glen and cemetary are beautiful as well... i didn't go to the castle, although i'm not even sure if you can... back in Edinburg i walked up to the Observation tower... what a beautiful view of the city.. got some really great pictures...
Before leaving for Glasgow i was able to see the National Museum of Scotland.. a real diverse collection of exhibitions... they even had Dolly the cloned sheep!... there was a really great exhibit called World in Our Hands, which talked about endangered and extinct species and the growing concern about global warming and overconsumption...
