Summer breaks out...the lineups are released and the final fight for tickets to the ever popular festivals is on...for many young people all around the world...summer season means one thing ..festivals!

Now I'm not a festpert at all...having only been to Creamfields in the UK and two Timewarps in Amsterdam and Germany...But Iv experienced enough to establish the differences

So your summer festival survival kit in the UK includes a mixture of bikinis , wooly gloves and wellies...the Amsterdam festival...had I been prepared would have been a snowsuit and thermal underwear and Australian..bikini and sun cream...

Field day festival on New Year's Day in Sydney happened to be the hottest day I had experienced so far..not to mention the most hungover I have ever been the morning of...waking up with Chinese eyes, a mouth like Ghandi's flipflop and an eyelash stuck to my eyebrow.
So I reach for the goon (for you Brits that's a 4 litre box of something immitating wine which costs 13 dollars which is about 9 quid) it tastes like ass but it does the trick! And this morning it tastes particularly bad but washed down with vodka and ginger ale it's doing the trick!

We meet our friend and our new Scottish friend for the day as drunken idiots...rach and I always seem to be introduced when were wasted looking like the wreck heads but ah well.

A drunken bus ride later and were into the scorching heat, we are earlybirds and the festival is only just starting to take shape. We retreat to a shaded cove area around a small stage with tables and chairs and a mad hatters tea party vibe. The outlook for the day is looking positive and rach treats herself to a 3 Minute massage from a Chinese guy.

And then were off spinning around in the sun to krafty kuts, watching that's juxtapositioning for ya! Quick food break whilst the girls eat a strange Turkish pancake which has a savoury filling of chicken and spinach but once squirted with lemon tastes sweet and strange.

Then we're off , high on life ...Booka shade , totally enormous extinct dinosaurs, hot chip, Adrian lux, two door cinema club, mark ronson disclosure, SBTRKT

Definitely the best New Year's Day of my life and don't think it could ever be beaten but on review I can't help favour the British festival crowd.

Outgoing , friendly and slightly crazy not too bad looking girls and did we mingle with anyone throughought the day? No nada zilch...see Australian people are so laid back that they they are not bothered about speaking to you...they'll speak back to you if you speak to them but there too chilled out to start a conversation outside of their own group...that group being a selection of tanned muscley bodies and immaculate girls with a fresh face if makeup and beautifully tonged comparison to rach and I with sweaty T zones, hair stuck to our wet forehead and bingo wings wobbling away to the beat...hmmm perhaps that's why

But no really, I know the Creamfields crowd had probably munched 3,000 pills in a combined effort and that could be fuelling their desire to chat and make friends with anyone that meets their eye but English festivals represent a new community , if someone's tent is pitched within a 20 meter radius they are automatically your friend, if you find yourself pulling out the same move to your fellow raver..chances are you'll rave with them for a section of time...

Of course there's your scouse girls arriving with rolers in their hair, scary huge German men dojng a hard techno punching dance and your regular chavs but UK and European festivals fulfill the stereotyped 'festival experience' not the Australian private party of next top model ...which is slightly the atmosphere of my first encounter of an Australian Festival.

Saying , what an awesome day :)
