The 10 hours on route to Korea breeze by, I watch excitedly as the hosties close the door and find it hard not to scream out yes that I have three seats to myself. I wait for some food...annoyingly I cannot understand the Korean waitress and end up ordering whichever one she says is the traditional Korean dish to be given some greenery, grey pukey looking substance with mash potato, whilst all the Koreans around me tuck into rice and steamed vegetable soup, adding all of their extras and slurping away. Swallowing my food I envy I wait patiently for another glass of wine.
At the airport, not feeling to bad at all, shame she didn’t understand again when ordering my tea and I got the milk that id asked for this time, but Korean tea so it defeated the object
Of course the next leg of the journey makes me pay for the comfort I have discovered before. Middle seat in-between two blokes....neither of them the love of my life (It WILL happen someday).
When the hostess comes at dinner time, I confidently ask for the rice and steamed veg soup, pleased with myself for my choice...until I open...strange mushrooms on rice and not steamed vegetable soup....SEAWEED! Stinky stinky seaweed!
But 10 hours, no sleep, an Iranian pervert later, I am reunited with my ‘amazing piece of person’ Rach, my beloved best friend, we embrace and she hands me a balloon with ‘Welcome to Australia’, which later every person on the train is over the moon about as I wade through stepping on peoples toes, running them over with my gigantic (extra £63 at check in) suitcase and bop them over the head with my helium balloon.
