Katottiin auringolasku Angkor Wat-temppelilla mut jalleen vahan pettymys.
Vasta kymmenen maissa alko tulee enemman turisteja mut me oltiin jo melkeen valmiit sillon :)
Jouluaattona syotiin hyvin ja kierrettiin muutamassa baarissa. Hirveeseen joulufiilikseen ei jostain kumman syysta paasty mut otetaan se sit takas uutena vuotena...BANGKOKISSA!
Huomenna jatketaan siis Bangkokiin bussilla. Tehtiin paatos jattaa Laos valiin. Taalta ois vahan hankalampi menna Laokseen maateitse ja menolento maksaa liian paljon meian budjetille. Vahan harmittaa mut toisaalta kahen viikon takii punnittiin et vietetaan sit Thaimaassa vahan enemman aikaa rannalla...helppoa, eiko ;D
toivottaa Norsu

Hellou everyone, and once more Merry Xmas
I only added photos to Ream NP and Kampot entries. The stories behind were explained in Sihanoukville part or in here. So from Sihanoukville we took a minibus to Kampot, a very small and quiet town in southeast, without street lights in every part of town. The main reason for going there was the Bokor National Park. The ride took appr.two hours to Kampot.
The day trip to Bokor took place the next morning. We had a van with open plat where we took our places. There were six of us and the ride sure was different. The part from town to the gates of NP was fine but after we got to that bumpy road we had to hold the sides of the car with all the strength not to fell over. The road was paved in the 90s but after the weather conditions etc. it was terrible now. And my, our arses were aching after the day!
Somehow I dig the drive, it was exciting and different. Well the return trip was the same and by that time I wish we would've taken another mean of ride. ;)
It took two hours in the road to reach the first destination, the King's old summer palace or something. There were three rusty buildings up in the hill and it was very misty and cloudy there. They said the government will turn the old buildings into a cafe for tourists.
After that we approached a valley with more old rusty buildings, a church, casino, hotel among others. In the old days when the casino was still dazzling, people came there to try thei luck and lost all the money and committed suicides. The guide said the valley was a good place for that and now they have no plans to reconstruct the casino due to these reasons
We took a look at the buildings and had a lunch near the old hotel. I think the scenery was amazing and the silence great. Liked the place. You couldn't explore the area too specifically as there still are many land mines in the area. The guide tols us they found 30 unexploded land mines just recently and new findings are made all the time.
After spending time in the valley we hit the road again and in the middle took a small hike in the jungle. We didnt have much time to seek for animals or to chill out there and the guide just led us through the forest. The sounds were loud there, all the birds and bees etc. make such a noise your ears start to hurt!
We took a boat after the NP to Kampot centre and saw the sunset which was amazing seen form the river. But 12hrs on road and we were exhausted by then. We didnt spend much time in Kampot and basically just had dinners there and otherwise stayed in the room and watched the wonderful cable tv ;)
In the next morning we took a bus to Phnom Penh and from there another to Siem Reap. The trip was about 8-10hours.
Siem Reap, well, its a nice place, very easy-going but packed with tourists. Nice architecture once again and annoying tuk-tuk drivers, even more than in other cities!
We bought a 3-day pass to Anrkor Wat for $40 and started our excursion on Xmas Eve.
We went there by bikes, about 24kms and saw two smaller wats in further. But the number of tourists, puff, it's like in Japan and we don't like it
The wats themselves are great, can't believe someone has been able to do something like that and it has been found in the jungle.
The second day we went to the temples bit later and by tuk-tuk coz we had celebrated xmas last eve. The driver charged us $8 for return trip. We saw the sunset at the temples (Angkor Wat to be exact) which was actually a bit disappointing, just shouldn't believe everything they say in the guide books.
And yesterday morning we did something extreme ;) We woke up at 4:20 and took bikes at five and started paddling towards the wats. Within half an hour we reached Angkor Thom, which is a slightly further from Angkor Wat. We thought there wouldnt be much others but there were. But majority took tuk-tuks to the temples and remained in the Angkor Wat site luckily.. And the locals, well they're early birds anyway...
We found a temple where we stayed until it was sunny. It started to be light at six and at six thirty the sun was up. It was excitiong to be up and in the dark that early, not having lights except for the moon
Tomorrow we'll leave for Bangkok. A little change of plans, and we leave Lao for another time. It was coz of the difficulty to get there by land and air fares were expensive for one-way trip to Vientiane. We just simply spend more time in Thailand and New Year in Bangkok!
Altogether we spent more money here than in Vietnam but it is much clamer and more beautiful and unexplored here too.
Merry xmas once more and all the best for the becoming year!

Trees captivating the wats
. No wonder..that's weird! We took a look at the buildings and had a lunch near the old hotel. I think the scenery was amazing and the silence great. Liked the place. Funny faces (and sweaty faces..)
. The atmosphere is just not the same. And all the locals, kids and adults, who hang around the wats with their street shops and try to sell you everything, and compete over the customers, it's exhausting. The wats themselves are great, can't believe someone has been able to do something like that and it has been found in the jungle.
The second day we went to the temples bit later and by tuk-tuk coz we had celebrated xmas last eve. The driver charged us $8 for return trip. Angkor Wat
. Only after ten when we had explored the area of Angkor Thom was there more tourists and by that time we were heading to town already. Tomorrow we'll leave for Bangkok. A little change of plans, and we leave Lao for another time. It was coz of the difficulty to get there by land and air fares were expensive for one-way trip to Vientiane.
