Terppa,

Balilta Javalle saavuttiin lautalla. Surabayaan me saavuttiin siis joskus illalla kasin aikaan ja bussiasemalta meian piti paasta juna-asemalle ostamaan liput koska seuraavana paivana me startattais Yogyakartaan. Meita tietty huijattiin heti. Taksikuski lupas matkan 30-tuhannella mut juna-assalla se olikin jo 50-tuhatta. ;)

ENGLISH:

So like mentioned in last entry, we arrived to Java from bali by ferry. Kepathan is the town called where we arrived. There we were greeted by a tourist officer employee who wanted to inform us about the locals who perceive us as equivalent to money and try to scam in prices. Kind of him to do that. He also let us know about the approximate prices we should pay for certain services like buses and bemos. We took a bemo to bus station which was few kilmoteres ride and it was okay. At the bus station though we ended up paying a bit more than locals but still reasonably. We had the bus ticket to Surabaya for 40 000rp which is around 3euros. We traveled with a guy from the States. He went all the way to Yogya but had to change bus in Surabaya. He kept company for Raffi while I had (tried to have..) my beauty sleep in the bus. The drive was suppose to last for 5-six hours but in the end it was more like 8hours! But it was like our local bus: stopping to pick up people the whole journey. In Surabaya we were in the evening, maybe around eight. From the bus station we wanted to go to train station to buy tickets to Yogya the next morning. Of course we got scammed already. After negoatiating with a taxi driver he promised us a lift to station for 30 000rp but once there we gave him 50 000rp note (as we had no small money) and he basically sped away with the money claiming it was 50000 in the beginning. Plah. So we were there exhausted, hungry and angry at the local menthality of tourist equals money. So no wonder we were paranoid whenever local approached us afterwards...

We bought tickets for the morning train at seven and agreed on a lift to hotel by a local who spoke some Swedish. Sign of trust ;) He was nice however, and the drive was as we agreed and they took us to Wisma Mandiri, a hotel near the station, spotted from Lonely Planet. As we should've known better the room prices were higher than mentioned in the book and we paid 95 000rp for a small room. It's not much but still.. there was no shower, only the local wash basin, mandi, and no breakfast either but for freshening up and 7hour sleep we were more than ready to accept the deal.

In the morning at six, we took a taxi to station and continued to Yogyakarta.
