Day : 203
Temperature : 25 degrees
Weather : Nice

Surprisingly, we both felt pretty ok when we woke up. We set off for Havelock, about half an hour north of Blenheim. We'd been recommended to come here in order to sample some the best mussels we would ever have in our lives! We stopped at "The Mussel Pot" on the main road. Kev ordered steamed mussels with stilton and something sauce (Kev can’t remember) and I ordered steamed mussels in white wine and garlic sauce. My gawd, these were the biggest mussels we have ever seen, and made even more impressive by their beautiful bright green and aqua coloured shells. Tony was right, they WERE the best mussels we have ever had!

We then headed off into the Marlborough Sounds looking for a place to spend the day. The roads were a bit of a nightmare for Kev and Harold. Twisty-turny and very steep in places. After an hour on the road we discovered that we were less than half way to where we wanted to get to and the roads were getting more difficult. So we made the decision to turn back. We headed into Picton to get some supplies and find out where the ferry terminal is, then we drove to Whatamango Bay, a lovely little bay with a pebbly beach area and DOC camping right on the shore. The weather was fantastic. Hot and sunny with barely a breeze. All we had to do was get the guide book out and decide what we will do and where we will go on the north island.

Hi Ants!
Yeah, the weather has been great! We've been very lucky. I heard about the snow and cold weather back home...but I'm sure it will be feeling all nice and Christmassy :-) We have now been on the north island for a couple of days so better get blogging now that we have internet access. Hope the girls and Mui are well xx
