Day : 184
Temperature : 32 degrees
Weather : Sunny and dry :-)

We left Ko Yao Noi on the 7am ferry to Krabi but had an argument with the ticket lady on the boat when she overcharged us because we were "foreigner". We discovered that all the locals paid 120 Baht and we were charged 150 Baht. She point blank refused to give us our money back, and our angry demands seemed to provide her with much entertainment. We were left seething, and she was left with 60 Baht extra in her pocket...

Once at the bus station in Krabi our moods were improved when we lucked out and managed to grab the last two seats on the Lignite 24 seater overnight bus to Bangkok. The bus departed at 5pm and so we spent our time relaxing in a hotel and watching some DVD's. In the afternoon we made our way back to the bus terminal via the litte red tuk-tuks / vans...I don't know the proper name for them, but it's worth mentioning that they cost 15 Baht each, versus the 120 Baht that the other rip off tuk-tuk drivers try to charge.

We boarded our bus and discovered with delight that they are really comfy....huge seats which recline nearly horizontally, only three seats across each row, foot rests, pillows and blankets. At 9pm the Thai music was thankfully switched off and we managed to doze on and off (as best as possible given that you are on a bus) until 3.30am when the lights were switched back on. We arrived in Bangkok at 4am. We survived the taxi ride to Khao San Road...only because I asked the driver to slow down..which he did, from 140kph to 120kph...and by 5pm we were tucked up in bed catching up on some much needed zzzz's.

Yesterday we spent much of the day shopping for some filters for our our disappointment we were met with "we no hab" in every shop, so we spent an age on the internet trying to find some dealers that we could visit after the weekend. We did however, manage to buy a lightweight tripod and a new camera bag, a remote control shutter release thingy, and another 26 movie DVD's...we will limit ourselves to one per day when we are in our campervan. We bought our Lonely Planet New Zealand book and have spent much time devising an itinerary for our campervan trip, and we have stocked up on toiletries and some new cheap clothing.

Tomorrow, we are going on a little tour to the River Kwai and then the countdown is really on until NEW ZEALAND!!!
