Day : 166
Temperature : Same, Same
Weather : Sunny mornings, cloudy afternoons

Had a long lie this morning.  Absolute bliss. We sauntered down to the nearest café for banana pancakes on the river. Kevin's chocolate and banana pancake was much nicer than my honey and banana pancake….mental note to have chocolate and banana tomorrow. For those of you that know Kevin, he always has a frustrating knack of choosing the nicest thing on the menu….I must start hijacking his choice of meals. Anyway, I digress. After brekkie we hired some rather attractive pink bicycles complete with pink baskets. We pootled around the island on our bikes all morning, past the paddy fields and through a couple of villages. We did have to dodge some of the other traffic on the road…the odd buffalo or cow with a bell around its neck.

We visited some absolutely fantastic waterfalls. It wasn’t the height of the falls that was impressive, it was the width of them and the volume of water that was literally thundering and crashing over them. The noise was deafening. Next we cycled our way over the bumpy dirt tracks to a couple of beach areas and we had a rest (from all that exertion) and a drink. By that time it was getting pretty hot and we decided to head back to our bungalow and have some lunch…again on the riverfront. I actually checked on the map about the size of the Mekong at these islands. Can you believe it actually spans approximately 4 miles? That’s incredible isn’t it.

We had a very tiring afternoon….check out the photos.

We have decided to move on as we feel we have seen pretty much all there is to see here. So tomorrow we leave for Champasak further up the Mekong.

Stay tuned folks for more updates soon.
