DOMINIQUE HERE:      Quick blog only

Day : 28
Temp : 27 deg
Weather : still wet!!!

Day 5 in southern China, and it's been 5 days of solid rain!!!!!!  Not even the faintest sign of any blue sky. And to top it all, today it has been one long continual torrential downpour / thunderstorm for 6 solid hours! Aaarrrgghhh!!! It is now 3pm and it's soooooo dark outside it looks like it might be 8 o'clock at night! OK, moan over, what have we been up to??

We spent our last day in Yangshuo visiting the water caves, paddling about in the streets and watching DVD's (!) and we are now in Guilin, the city to the north of Yangshuo. We left this morning (in the pouring rain!) on the public bus and arrived here (in the pouring rain!) just after midday. We haven't been able to see much of the city today (because of the torrential rain!) and we spent the afternoon in KFC (we were desperate for shelter!) where we bumped into two American girls who are teaching in Shanghai, and we spent a few hours chatting to them. We then legged it back to the hostel (in the pouring rain!!) whereupon we had to have a complete change of clothes because we were soaked to the bone!!!!

Tomorrow we are visiting the Longshen Rice Terraces (no doubt in the rain!) and the day after we leave for Chengdu where we pray we might see some dry weather otherwise I think I might get on the quickest flight to Bali!

Will keep you all up to date and hopefully will have some nice photos of the rice terraces tomorrow

Have just revisited your pictures on the caves and they look even better than the first time. No news to give you at this end although I am selling my car this morning and have a possible local interest in yours. Will let you know. Dad xx
