Leaving Alice Spring on the Ghan train, really old and really go faster. Leaving Alice Spring was really sad actually, of all the places I have been I really felt connected to this place. Many people I have met didnt really ALice because of the aboriginal communities, but I am so interested in that culture...actaully bought three books before I left. One is a true story, biography with a bit of history, second one tells you abouth their "dreamtime"-  their stories, and the thirs one is called "the little black, yello, red book" it explains their history, culture, language, dreamtime, good for beginners it says. They are all small books so not too heavy, the guy give me one for free which I was grateful but dont really need the extra weight! Anyway, back to the Ghan.

Good trip, only 1 or 2 toilets for 120 people! Met a swiss guy from Bern, Manuel and some people from Holland who had a bad experience with the Ghan. They could tkae it from Darwin and were given no compensation for it (because of the floods). So when the toilet story came they were not happy. The toilets kept plugging up so they closed them. The food, expensive and not good, I forgot to buy food before I left. Thankfully the swiss guy shared his food with me :)- thank you Manuel! Manuel had a book on Australian Spiders....of course I took a look. They are very colourful actually and some interesting one. Actual one that is actually pretty is called the "jewel spider" which I saw back in Cape Tribulation, google it.

We were able to see the sunset, and I wokr up for the sunrise as now I am use to wake up at 5am! But the train was stopped and a tree was right in front of it so could see anthing! Grrr! Back to sleep for me. The day/nighter seats were comfortable as you could turn around the two infront of you, so you could stretch your legs. Actually I was suppose to be in another wagon but I wanted a window seat and this wagon was empty so they let people choose their seat. Good bunch in the train, fun ride. Read, played my ipod, and slept.

There was some information passed along on what we would see out the window which was nice.

I think its something to do once in your life to take the Ghan train, but I dont think its something that you MUST do.

Manuel and I thought maybe some swiss engineers should come and put a TGV or some swiss train in place, it would only then take 6hrs from Adelaide to ALice and not 24hrs. Oh and I put my watch ahead so its 9h30 difference with Swizerland!

Got in Adelaide, shared a cab to the hostel. Went out to find some food, went to the supermarket which was closed, kind of got on my nerves but I was hungry, hadnt eaten in 8hrs or so! So a little grumpy. Went to the central market, a lot of food there, mom dad we gotta go there, you will like it. I found a little place and had a smoothie (super healthy one with a energy booster in it) then I went to Coles to do some grocery shopping. On the menu: tonight its pasta and tomato sauce (first time that I will actually cook a warm meal - apart from the tours) and cereal for breaky!

Tomorrow, I will upload pictures and go to the tan is fading! ;-)
