Woke up bright and early and had a very English/Aussie breakkie of beans on toast. Mmmmm..... We headed off first to the Stonetool Sandblow lookout where Grahmm tried to feed us some ridiculous story about the squiggly barks serving a message trees that the Aboriginals made the markings on but later really stated it was some larva of a moth eating the sap. We tried some of the sap and found it pretty bad. Upon putting it in your mouth it immediately dried it up and if you had enough of it made it go numb. The aboriginals used it commonly as a remedy to toothaches. We then continued to head across the island to the 75 mile beach. The beach on Frasier Island serves as a highway and is actually a registered national highway in Australia, the Great Sandy Highway! Anywho, we stopped for morning tea which was a sampling of bush tucker. You had to go find this lump in the sand of which you dug down until you found a shell. You then cracked it open and inside was a oyster looking animal still alive! When you poked it the animal you retract like a muscle jerking!!!! BLAH!!! Anywho, you took it out and sqeezed out the poop and then ate it! Which I did! It wasn't really that bad, kinda salty and seafoody tasting... We then had the opportunity to take a 20 min plane ride for an arial view of Frasier! I did it and it was really good! Stopped off at Pinnacle sands to view the beauty that had been created by 89 different colors of sand! I think that's what Grahmm said anyways. We then went up to Indian head which is one of the 3 only rock structures that created Frasier Island.
01-Stonetool Sandblow
Basically the sand was carried by currents and over so many years created a sand deposit large enough to become the world's largest sand island! So we sat up there and were able to view sharks and schools of fishes swimming about! It was really very peaceful and a beautiful view! We then had another sampling of tucker this time pig weed or something like that which tasted much like a salty kiwi fruit! We then stopped off at Champagne pools which was our only opportunity to swim in salt water. The ocean come and forms these pools and as the waves splash in creates a champagne effect! Swimming in champagne! How glorious! We had lunch there and did a bit of fun times. On the way back down the beach we stopped off at the Maheno ship wreck which has been there since 1935. The afternoon was spent at Eli Creek. Eli Creek is a beautiful creek that flows from Fraser into the sea. It's surrounded on both sides by beautiful forest and lovely wildlife (mainly birds, didn't see too many spiders or snakes:-) Anywho, what't so fun about Eli Creek is that it's basically a natural lazy river! You dip yourself in and float down it like a crocodile, or at least that's what I pretend I am:-) No wonder everyone thought I was so strange, chomping onto their legs and all, only the cute ones of course, j/k!!! I'm a dork:-) We left drove back and were dropped off at the resort and we sat about in the pool, took a walk out to the western beach and watch the sunset. Very romantical! Dinner was lovely and there was a nice bread and butter pudding which was yummy! Afterwards we played team trivia of which Christian (Germany), J-P (Holland), Lorenzo (Italy) and myself were a part of! I was team captain which is why I have the silly hat on. We got 14 out of 30 correct which wasn't so bad considering I had to translate a few of the questions:-) We said farewell to a few of our group as they were only doing a 2 day tour and shared the facilities w/ a new tour. This was pretty funny as many of this new tour were Americans. They were doing a spring break trip similar to the one I did the last time I was in Australia that brought me in the first place to Frasier... Of course we were laughing about how they were all huddled around each other and tended to only do things in a group as they were of the sheepish frat nature. Oh well, what do you do but later after trivia and some dancing I stopped over there w/ a few of the English on my tour and was entertained! They were just drinking crazy amounts and one guy smashed into the screen and broke it... typical! Either was it was funny b/c I was able to talk in the American colloquial and they were really quite funny. Happy Holiday! That night got to bed pretty late and got to listed to a beautiful downpour of rain. What an awesome day!
