 June 29 and 30, July 1 and 2

July 2 -
Since we vegged out most of yesterday, we decided that today we would explore Great Falls.

We visited the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center.  It is located on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River (which is longer than the Mississippi.)  The Center commemorates the Lewis & Clark Expedition's accomplishments across the entire length of the Trail through interactive exhibits and programs.  I completed a project about Lewis & Clark in about 6th grade, but have forgotten the who, what, where, why, and when of almost everything about their expedition...just like I've forgotten most things from yesterday.

Outside the Center, more than 40 species of plants native to north-central Montana were identified and some of the information described how they were used by local Indians - mostly for medicinal purposes.  Art was hoping to find a quick cure for hangover.

Down the road, we went to the Giant Springs State Park, first recorded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805. It is one of the largest freshwater springs in the world, flowing at a measured 156 million gallons of water per day! Here we picnicked by the Missouri River and visited the fish hatchery.  We also got to see the world's shortest river.  The Roe River is only 201 feet long.

We just came back from a final short meeting before we leave Great Falls tomorrow morning.  We were told to keep our mouths shut at customs when crossing into Canada, to only answer what is asked, and not to offer any information.  Oh, God, with Art at the wheel, are we in trouble!  Send bail money via Wells Fargo.

Re: Hangover?
The only time he 'wines' is when he's out of gin.

I have been enjoying this blog a lot. When I was on motor coach with friends our "leaders" insisted we don't fool around at the border when we went to Niagara Falls. Its serious business...Looking forward to reading more of your adventures.
