Today we are on a bit of a mission. We have shopping to get, dinosaur's remains to find, and food to cook in preparation for Uncle Justin’s arrival later today.

So, first of all there is Woody’s breakfast and much packing of essentials.  A book on dinosaurs, a toolkit, a note pad, as well as lunch, snacks, and a flask of coffee substitute for me.  Woody surprises me and waits patiently whilst this process takes places.

We are on our way and we head to a shopping centre to buy some food, find a DVD for Shea, and try and find my brother some new shorts.

First, we find the requested Barbie DVD – result.  We then try and find some longer length big fella shorts - fail.  Elwood actually managed to find a couple of sea creatures which he really, really needed.  So we grab those because understand how much he really needs them!

Then we head into a fruit shop which I had seen the ads for but have not been to before.   Bargains galore.  I panic buy a little bit because everything looks beautiful.  I buy 4 times as much stuff as I intended.  But I always feel healthier just for buying fruit and veg, so that’s good.

We then head to Coles to buy the rest of the shopping.  By this point, Woody and I have both had enough of being at the shops, so we both alternate between whinging and being silly the whole way round.

Woody is tired and wants to head home instead of the park.  I give him a punnet of strawberries and he is full of beans again in no time.

We head to the waterfront and set up camp to eat lunch and look for dinosaur remains.  The sun and the water are beautiful and just too much temptation for Woody who gets his gear off and is in the water pretty quickly.  He has his new sea creatures and he experiments with them in the flow of the water.  Woody plays and swims and I watch from the edge with my peppermint tea.

All is fine until Woody loses his footy and is suddenly out of his depth.  I am right at the water’s edge just about 2 metres from Woody – so he is fine but he does get a fright.  So I go in, fully clothed to help him.  It is freezing.  We head home after that as I do not have a change of clothes so I wrap myself in a picnic blanket and we head home.  Brrrrrrrrr

At home Woody and I warm up and tidy up.  Woody watches a movie and I get started in the kitchen.  I make pizza dough, a vanilla cake in the shape of a castle and some chocolate cupcakes and dinosaurs, and then Justin and the girls arrive.

The kids play in the garden for ages whilst I keep cooking and chat to Justin.

I finish the pizza doughs, roast veges to top the pizza, and chop all the pizza ingredients.  The fellas grab some more beers.  Shea helps make the kids’ pizza bases, princess crowns for her, pirate ships for Woody, and gingerbread man shaped for Skye.  The kids then assembly their own pizzas.  They love it.  We then leave them to eat the remainder of the ingredients.

By this point Justin is salivating and makes his own meat feast chilli pizza.  He cannot stop talking about the pizza bases and how good they are.  When I say cannot stop, I really mean it.  It is all he says for 1.5 hours!

Then we tell Shea that because she ate her dinner nicely Barbie popped in and dropped off a DVD for her.  She is so, so excited and the kids can’t stop talking about the visit from Barbie.

We bath the kids and get them ready for bed; they then sit on the sofa, much some cake and watch the Barbie movie.

We have a little altercation with Justin about the lack of coffee in the house, and he thinks it is not fair that he cannot have coffee or milo just because we are on detox.  Tough luck.  He is threatening to tease me with coffee tomorrow.  After that it is bedtime.  We will undoubtedly have a bright and early start tomorrow.
