I get up first with Woody and we have brekkie and get ready. There really is nothing significant to say about this, except, I am (unusually) up first.

We wake Noah and give him about 3 seconds to get into the car for swimming.   He makes it, but he does not wake until sometime later.

Woody loves swimming and tries really hard.  Noah and I drink coffee, so we are all happy.  It is a really cold day.  All the children get out of the pool freezing, rushing for their towels, except Elwood.  I am not sure if it is all those swimming lesson at Quilters School and those freezing change rooms.  But Woody just does not feel the cold these days.

I wear a cosy jumper.  I am wearing it because it is warm, but I also really do love it.  And then Woody says, 'Mummy, why are you wearing a picnic blanket?' Nothing like children to say it as they see it.

It is has been raining, and is threatening to rain again, but at this moment it is not raining.  So we make out way to the bouncy pillow.  We make it before the pillow is even open and there is a group of teenagers waiting to go on the pillow.  Surely , they must have something better to do....

So we jump and play and try to stay out of the way of the teenagers playing rugby and doing flips.  Woody is intimidated.  They lose interest after a while, and Woody goes back to his usual carefree jumping and laughing.  We play on some of the other swings but it comes to the point where we can no longer pretend that it is not raining.  We get back to the car just as the skies properly open.

Woody still needs a good run so we decide to go to an indoor play area.  It is closed.  Disbelief.  It is a rainy bank holiday.  So we ead homewards and think about where else we can go.   I try and think of other indoor areas and I cannot think of any.  We think of the Sharks Club but we want Woody to run and exert some energy rather than just watch a movie.

And then I have a brain wave.  Bunnings Hardware store.   It has both a cafe and indoor play area and I could also price up some things we need for a market stall.  Excellent.  Woody is delighted with this.  Woody has a good razz around and then we have a coffee in the cafe.  Woody starts out brilliantly and then he turns stroppy.  Noah and I try and not come over all stroppy too.  So we try and chirp Woody out of it.  And we are very almost successful.

We head back home and I try and trick Woody into reading and a rest.  He knows what I am up to and he is having none it.  I choose my battles carefully, and decide this is one I will not win.  So, Woody gets up and plays with his trains and I make pizza dough.  I make the toppings for the pizza and then Woody and I assemble the pizzas.  They turn out absolutely brilliantly.  They are the best pizzas I have ever made (and I have made some good pizzas in my time...).  We sit and have the loveliest lunch.  All chatting and eating and being warmed from the inside from the chilli on the pizza.

Noah plays with Woody for a bit whilst I pull together the docs for a school application for Woody.

Next Woody and I read his home readers for his literacy class.  He is brilliant.  I ask him to choose a book to read and he just picked up a book and read it out loud - just like that.  When Woody does this – it is always the highlight of the day.  Woody feels so clever, and Noah and I give ourselves a bit of a pat on the back as we see the results of our efforts.

Woody and I have a bit of a tidy up of his toys. We find some alphabet and counting posters which woody has never been terribly interested in the past.  When I say, not been terribly interested, I mean he hated them and always insisted on them being taken down.   But today, he loves them.   He wants to practice his alphabet  - he is struggling with L M N O P – I think loads of kids do.  And then he wants to practice counting.   I really love it when Woody is interested and excited about learning.

After that we watch the Lion King.  I send some emails and tidy the kitchen.  Woody then plays with his Lego figures until dinner is ready.

The kitchen is tidy and I cannot really face messing it up by doing something as foolish as cooking a proper meal.  Plus, I have already made a pizza today.  So, I make baked beans and scrambled eggs.  We then play hungry hungry hippo.  Woody loves this timeless game.  He soon becomes dissatisfied with the hungriness of his hippo and is getting a bit cheaty.  I tell him I am not going to play if he is going to cheat.  Woody retorts, ‘I am not going to play with you if you don’t cheat’.  I do not know how to reply to this.  Woody launches into a speech about how much he loves cheating.  Cringy parent moment.

We then play a game of puzzles which make words.  We are so almost having a relaxing lovely time, but Woody somehow manages to make it a bit competitive.  But he is doing the puzzles, I am glad about that.

Next Woody has a bath and gets ready for bed.  We read 3 Toy Story books which is quite draining for me.  There are only so many Woody and Buzz  adventures I can read in one sitting.  Woody falls asleep happily and quickly.

I crack on with yesterday’s to do list.  I finish writing up my interview for the August magazine, send some emails, price lots of things for the business, do some admin for the business and sort some photos for Grandma Molly.  This burst of activity meant there is no energy left for  the blog.  That will have to be first thing on tomorrow’s to do list.

Noah has been, and continues to, weave some magic and make a website.  Excellentness!

Sleep tight lovely people x
