So we exercise, Elwood eats cheerios and gives us some 'helpful’ feedback. Noah gets up and saves Woody from climbing on us during Ab-nonsense.
Elwood and Noah get ready and I make Woody’s lunch. Noah takes Woody to preschool and I get ready and at some point have an absolute moment of clarity about how I am going to finish up my article for the next issue of the magazine
Noah and I chat about what he is working on and we work out what we have to do today. Mum heads off with a friend for lunch and Noah and I make some headway in sorting out some bits. I email some folk, we arrange Woody’s birthday cake, I arrange my next interview, and chat to my swim coach. Pretty productive.
I head to the shops to buy cutlasses, socks, snacks and fruit. Back at home I make the fruit rockets I have promised Woody for afternoon tea and we head out to collect Woody from preschool.
He is very happy although super tired. But Noah and I decide he can be tired and whingy at home or at the beach – and we opt for the beach. On the way I fish for compliments and ask Woody if I am the best mum. He confirms, that indeed I am. I ask why and he says because I cook food that he likes, like dumplins’. I have never ever cooked dumplins’ – I don’t even know how to. But, as a rule, I accept all compliments which come in my direction. So, I say thank you. I ask if there are any other reasons why I am the best Mum. He replies ‘I would like to cut down some trees’. (What?) He points to the specific tree which he wants to cut down. He wants to make some curtains, a hat, bike seat and some shorts out of that tree once he has cut it down. He is an innovator, I guess.
We head to Broadbeach and the fellas run around and play ball and I listen to my audiobook
And when we get home, we realise we need to go back to Broadbeach to collect Woody’s birthday presents which have been on lay-by. So we unpack the car of various trucks, bikes, buckets, tents and spades and head back to Broadbeach.
We go to collect our lay-by and there is a big faff about whether we can collect it. I wait and I wait and wait and they give me a ticket to say I can take home what I have paid for. Hooray! We will collect it in the car as we leave the shops.
We pop to Myer and I buy some skincare bits and then we head to Pacific Fair food court with about a billion other families. Woody monsters a massive chicken curry and I have tempura prawns. Noah tries not to notice that in the process of eating dinner Woody has smeared his face a t-shirt with curry sauce.
We head back to the car and drive to the loading dock to collect our lay-bys. They do not fit in the car. Neither of them. Grrrrrrrr.
And so we drive home. Woody falls asleep in the car and we carry him to bed and he pretty much stays asleep. He smells of curry. I cannot believe Woody is still only 3 – he looks like a teenager passed out on his bed after a night out on the razz.
And Noah heads back to the shop to collect the lay-bys without Woody and me taking up space.
Mum comes home, and then Noah comes home and we chat and Noah has dinner. Finally, we have Woody’s birthday presents – now we just have to put them together!
Noah gets back to work and I blog.
Goodnight lovely people. x
