We wake and Elwood knows it is Grandma Day – he is psyched.

We head to footy and Woody is fabulous. Noah and I have a ball watching it.

Post footy our plan is to hit the beach.  But it starts to rain, ggggrrrrrr, so we decide to go to the Sharks Club for coffee and 2nd breakfasts, so that is what we do.  This is just what we needed and is an excellent slow start to the day.  I write a list because that is what I do.  Woody plays in the kids section and we have a great time, but it is not the beach.

We then head over to a fabric store to get craft projects and then we get flowers for the Mothership.  We are, at last, organised-ish.

We get home, and we still have to tidy up so we crack on with that, and cooking and making up the bed etc.  We are really razz around doing this as we are desperate to get to the beach.

So we head to the beach and play our usual games, 'chase daddy and jump on him', and some new ones, ‘bury dad’s legs so he looks like a mermaid’.  We run and laugh and fall over and have a ball.

We have a super quick bite to eat and in the rushing and fussing I manage to shut my own face in the shower door.  I am not sure how I did this, or why I would even admit to it, for that matter.  But I do.  My face pretty much hurts down one side but we make it out the house super organised and vaguely on time.  Winners.

Mum’s flight has arrived early so we are expecting her through any minute.  Other people come through, but Mum doesn’t.  I text her various offensive messages to try and speed the process up but this does not work.  So, quite a long time later, it turns out Mum has been standing at the wrong conveyer belt for luggage.  I cannot tell you how unsurprising this is – it is a classic Mothership.

When she finally emerges Woody is just over the moon.  He is so happy to see her.  He smiles and chats and looks like the most proud boy in the universe.  Mum looks super well.  We get her home as quickly as we can as we all have a thirst on.

At home we drink and snack, and then drink and snack some more.  It is terrific and what I have been looking forward to all day.  We also make a serious dent in the easter eggs.

And that is our day.  It’s a great day when the mothership arrives.  We are stoked.

Good night folks.  x
