Right, we're getting there.

A slightly better night with the little fella.  I slept in his room again but Woody was not content with me sleeping on the floor next to him and slept on me instead.  Not ideal. But we both get some kip.

Noah gets up with Woody in the morning and they build a futuristic Lego fire station which is actually pretty impressive.

I get up and start grazing immediately and pretty much do not stop all day.  We all eat toast until there is no bread left, even Woody has a bit of a much so this pleases us.  Quite stupidly, I then start eating chocolate but I can’t seem to stop myself once I have started.  Grrrrrr.

I have a job to do, that I am not looking forward to, so I am stalling and comfort eating.  I have to finish sorting through the photos to make a nice space for the Mothership.  I have been chipping away at it but today it has to be done.  I am not even going through and putting them in albums, I am just putting them in boxes for me, Justin, and Mum – but still it’s quite a big task, and not one that I enjoy.  But, by mid afternoon, every box has been opened, gone through, cleaned and back into clean labelled boxes, and back under the house.  Good.  I think it is not great for your headspace to have old, boxed up memories kicking about in your living space.  The next step is to make a couple of lovely albums to keep under the coffee table, a much better place for memories to live, but that is a job for another day, sometime over the next few weeks.

So we have a blank canvas of a room that we can build the new bed in.  Progress.  Noah is in charge of the build and I am his assistant and I think I am borderline useful.  Woody is the other assistant.  He was meant to be watching the Wiggles but that kid can sense it if someone gets out a tool kit.  I encourage him several times to get his plastic toolkit, but he looks at me the way I think he is going to look at me in his teens.  Hmmm.  So, Noah and I get on with putting the bed together and Woody walks around wielding a hammer, looking for something to hammer.  He finds some cardboard and some polystyrene and seems to be happy with that, for a bit.  After that, he spends his time rearranging screw and screwdrivers so we are never quite sure where anything is.  But we are all happy, and although Woody is sweaty and almost completely out of voice, he is still better than he has been in days.  So it’s all good.

And the room is complete.  Except for bedding.  It looks brilliant.  We are very happy with this new space in our house.  Bye bye storage room, hello hotel-esque guest room.  And then we have a bit of a tidy up.  This is enough to exhaust Woody.

Woody goes to bed fairly easily at first.  He is coughing like crazy so we prop him up in bed.  He is pretty restless.  I realise we have made such a fuss over him the last few days we have probably made a rod for his own back.  I realise this when Woody says to me, 'When am I getting up to watch some TV’.  He has stayed up late the last 2 nights because he was so restless and poorly – now he thinks it is the done thing.

Noah and I toughen up, and Woody stays in bed and goes to sleep. Good stuff.

Noah and I drink tea, eat a chocolate rabbit, have a beer, and rustle up a poor excuse for a dinner.

We then watch Special Victims Unit and manage to stress ourselves out.

So that is us.  A strange day and a strange week where, for one reason or another, we have not managed to get into the swing things.  But tomorrow is a new day, and Saturday is ‘Grandma Day’ as woody calls it – so good things on the horizon.

Good night good folk. xxxx
