Back to presents. I did well and got new wallet, super-cool cool-bag, wine rack and lots of other bits and pieces. Woody got me a kid’s cook book and has earmarked all the things he wants to make. This fills me with joy. He spends ages chatting me through all the recipes.
We head out to swimming and Woody is fabulous, and he kind of knows it, as he gives us the thumbs up lots in the lesson
We then have a few Christmas presents to pick up and then we head for the beach. On the way, it starts chucking it down so instead of sitting on the beach as planned, we go to the surf club (How very Home and Away of us!) We eat lamingtons and drink coffee overlooking the beach and cling to the table to try and not get blown away. I display some very bad project management and finish my lamington whilst I still have coffee left (ideally, you should finish both coffee and cake at the same time) so I am forced to buy and eat a melting moment biscuit just so I can get the coffee / cake ratio right. Very good.
We buy some supplies for later in the day, and head home so Woody can trash the house. Grrrrrrrr.
We then head up to Mel’s for Christmas festivities in Windaroo. Mel lives on this street where every house is decorated with Christmas lights, lots of them are properly National Lampoon stylee. So we eat snacks out the back, I get some gorgeous gifts from Leonie (and my body weight in sweets. Thank you!) and kids invent crazy games whilst we wait for the sun to go down. Woody is in his element as Leonie's boys, Luke and Alex are there. Woody follows Alex about and just stares at him smiling pretty much constantly. Once it is dark, we sit in the front driveway drink wine, and eat fish and chips and watch the lights and watch the hundreds of people and tour buses go by looking at the lights
We head home and I chat to Mum on the phone and I drink that tropical sensation which is Malibu.
A great birthday indeed, despite turning 36.
Lots of Love from all of us. x
