We have a bit of a slow old start to the day on account of a late night trying to whip our life into shape. We chat about the 3 pillars of work, house and education which are almost all consuming at the moment.  So much so that I had a weird dream that I became a beautician (!?) who helped people organise their wardrobes (again, !?).  Even whilst I was dreaming, I was aware that this is strange and was thinking, 'Wow, I have never, ever wanted to be a beautician!'

Noah gets husband points by taking Woody down for a swim.  Elwood has a ball.  Elwood comes back full of beans and has his 2nd (and third) breakfast.

We head out for a wander around Waikiki.  The barriers and road blocks are starting to come down.  I know this is going to sound weird, but we could not see beach.  We had a vague idea where it was, but had no idea how to get there.  So we keep wandering and we come across a park with beach access.  Winners.  So we wander to the beach and we realise there is a path running across the whole beachfront, but you cannot see it from the road as all the massive hotels are inbetween.  At the risk of sound churlish, we are very surprised by Waikiki beach.  It is literally a slither of sand, the footpath, and then hotels.  I think we have been spoilt by the North Shore – or maybe we are just spoilt, in general!  There are tractors going along the beach path collecting the barriers, and the people sunbathing had to get out of the way so the tractor could get past.   The water was crystal clear, and the sun was magnificent, but tall hotels and a slither of sand is not what we have become accustomed to.  We have ice creams on the beach and then take a wander through the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel.  It is super.  We spend a long time looking at penguins, turtles and fish inside the hotel.  This is as random as it sounds, given where we are. We all enjoy wander around, although it feels like we are in Las Vegas or Dubai – not Hawaii.  We stop for a delicious pizza which we inhale.  And then we head back to the hotel as it is kindy opening time in Oz and we have calls to make.

I make some calls, and speak to some super helpful people, but I have not managed to find a perfect fit for us.  I look for some more houses, we have shortlisted some, but we need to fins the kindy first so all our worlds collide.  After much to’ing and fro’ing we apply for 3 kindy’s – so now we wait and see.

Elwood needs a sleep.   Elwood is refusing sleep.  So we read and invent stories and no sleep.  He has that glint in his eye and he is steadfastly doing the exact opposite of everything Noah and I say to him.  Grrrrrrr.  Why do 3 years olds have to act like such 3 year olds?

Noah takes Woody out to a park on the beach.  So he gets a good run about, and I get to finish off some paperwork.   They return later and we are all super happy and relaxed again.  I pop out to get Woody some chicken noodle soup, one of his new faves and when I come back he is watching a Disney Movie ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’.  He loves it and I do to.  He can barely stay awake, and then the second it is finished he is out like a light.

Noah  and I then both do some bits on the computer and I resist the urge to keep looking at houses.

We are getting very, very excited about our life in Australia.  So many exciting time lay ahead for our family.  We are probably being very naive, but it feels like we are heading for an extended holiday.  Well, in our hearts that’s how it feels, it our heads, we do know better!

Noah and I chat about plans for tomorrow and we are both dying to hit the shops.  I can see Macy’s right now from our window and it is calling my name.

Good night super lovely folk.  xxxx
