We wake up again at a crazy hour, and the fellas hit the beach so Woody can have a run.

I try and sort out the internet connection so I can upload the blog.  It keeps crashing and is so, so frustrating.  I fail, and hope it works out better later.  (It doesn't.)

The fellas come back and we munch breakfast. We head out to the shops and get some supplies.

When we get back Elwood looks exhausted and does not know what to do with himself.  (It is 9.30am!) Noah pops out to look online for jobs in oz and Woody and I play games, eat hot dogs, and chat.   He does not sleep but miraculous restores himself and we are back in business when Noah gets back.

We head to our beach, and I sun myself whilst the fellas play some great games.  Elwood made Noah re-enact a scene from Brother Bear.  They were 'where the light touches the earth’ and Noah had to be flames, and then an eagle coming out of the flames, and then holds Elwood up high whilst he transformed into a Bear.  It was hilarious.  I am going to get Elwood to make Noah do it again, and I am going to film it – just in case I ever need to blackmail Noah or certify him as insane.  It was so hilarious.

The surf was quite rough so we head around the corner to Waimea Bay.  The bay is gorgeous, the beach area is vast, and the sun is golden.  We rush in the water (like fools) and realise that it is deceptively extremely rough.  These massive barrels are crashing in about 1 foot of water.  And the drag was so strong on the way out we have to hold Woody and his legs were just floating out with the rip.  Then the next wave would crash around us, spraying sand all over our face, hair and body’s.  We were in shock!  Elwood loved it and wanted to go out further, but there was no way we would let him.  He just jumped over the waves, and was beaten about by the waves and sand, and could not have looked any happier.  I was bashed about for as long as I could handles then we headed out to Hale-iwa in search of shave ice.  We find some and Elwood is agog.  It is giant and luminous and Elwood cannot believe his luck.

We head to Hale-iwa Beach Park to stuff ourselves silly with sugar.  The view is every direction is gorgeous.  There are palm trees, mountains, palm trees, surfers and again, that sunshine that steals your breath.  Beautiful.  There was also ample climbing opportunities for the little fella and he delighted us when he clambered atop some tree roots  and stood proud and announced ‘I am the King of New York City’.  Priceless.  I asked Elwood what that made Daddy and he said Noah could be the ‘King of New York Ballet’.  Fantastic!

We play some more and then we head to yet another beach to see the Turtles from yesterday.  I instilled in Elwood that he could not touch them (I was so worried he would just jump on the back of one of them and say ‘Ride like the wind bulls eye’).  So Elwood wandered up to them and said hello and gave them a big wave.  It was a fantastic moment.  One opens its eyes and blinks, and Elwood is convinced they woke up when they heard his voice and that one winked at him. He has retold the story several times today, but I don’t think I will tire of it.

Back at home, I rustled up some dinner and the fellas head back to the beach.  We eat and surprisingly yummy dinner and Elwood watches a bit of a movie but really is so tired.  He fights it briefly and then he is out like a light.

It is so hot.  Noah and I are sitting around sweating, attempting to get the internet work and to get things off the ‘to do’ list.  But we can hear the waves, Elwood sleeping peacefully, and we are feeling happy and relaxed.

Goodnight from Noah and me, and the King of New York City, of course.
