We had quite a chilled day today (and our camera temporarily broke and then we weirdly forgot to take photos?!).

The plan was to be on the road by 7.30am so the mothership woke me up at 6am.   Really, 6am!  I was super stroppy.  Luckily she presented with me with a coffee the size of my head.  That does help in these situations.

We end up skyping Josh, Laoidhe, Esie and Elliot which was fab.  We saw Esie in her Halloween costume and they got to see Elwood jump on the bed and do forward rolls.  We cannot believe how grown up Esie and Elliot seem in just 6 weeks since we have been in the UK.  And we also cannot believe how much Elwood has got bigger in 6 weeks.  We wish we took all his measurements before we left as we think he has shot up and his feet have gone up a full size.  He is going to be a strapping lad for sure.

We are on the road for about 8.45am and are quickly hugging the coast road.  The water is glistening, the sky is blue and fog free, and the palm trees make compete the picture.  And then we see dolphins – woo hoo! There is no denying - dolphins are cool.  We drive through some fantastic towns and some gorgeous celebrity style beach front pads.  We consider stopping for a leg stretch or a splash but we are super keen to get to Beverly Hills as soon as possible.  Plus we are all travelling happily – so we press on.

And then Noah spots a Levis's outlet store on the horizon and pulls in quickly (earning him many husband points).  I try on 30,000 pairs of jeans – 3 of these fit , so I buy them and I am very, very happy.  They are the Curve ID jeans and they were 1/3 price in the UK and they mean that I will no longer be rockin the brickie in jeans.  Hurrah!  It is a truly great day.

We have some lunch at the outlet, we have all earnt it as I was trying on jeans for a very long time.  We have a bit of a browse and Noah scores 4 new t-shirts.  This is a great thing as he was out of clean clothes.  We also get Elwood some new shoes (non animal print boy shoes – just to be clear), some PJ’s and mum gets him some cool T’s.  We are all very happy with our purchases and quite reluctant to get back in the car on such a fine day to continue our journey to LA.

The traffic is pretty bad and mum gets a fairly serious case of cabin fever.  I then catch the cabin fever and Noah is left as the only sane person in the car.

We find our hotel, in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd.  We get much pleasure from just screaming out / singing Santa Monica Blvd fairly regularly.    We get ourselves sorted (which means take loads of crap out of the car and carry it through reception in supermarket carrier bags).  The fellas go for a swim and mum and I head off in search of the Beverly Center – super cool shopping centre for cool people (and tourists).  There are many people walking / carry dogs in the shopping centre.  We are baffled by this, but it is clearly the done thing.

I toy with the idea of buying a tracksuit and then remember how bad I look in leisurewear – so I put the tracksuit down and walk away.  The Mothership buys a super fab Hilfiger shirt that she looks great in.  She has no clean tops, so this purchase was a necessity for her to buy something clean for her flight home.  It did not take long for her to go feral.  I briefly consider trying on some shoes  and remember that I have had the same socks on for 3 days.  Not a great idea.  But I am wearing my new jeans so I think that cancels out stinky fit, in some way

As you can imagine, after such exertion we are a little parched, so we look for somewhere selling restorative wine.  We find a place that specialises in Mozzarella and we have lots of Mozzarella based snacky bits and two big glasses of deliciousness.  We had a great time chatting, people watching and contemplating leisure wear.

When I am considering buying something fluro in track suiting we decide it is time to go.  We get home in time to see a super happy Elwood and put him to sleep.  Mum and Noah go out to forage and come back with a massive pizza, fries, and chocolate.  It is yummo, but I am so needing a detox before I go bang.

We watch TV, and mum is very critical of the brides on 'say yes to the dress’.  Noah and I then attempt to pack up all out bits into the bags we have.  Umm, this is not happening.  We also have loads and loads of dirty washing so mum was laughing her head off that the sniffer dogs are going to have a field day with our luggage.  I do not think we have gone crazy with purchases, but it is not going to fit.  No way, no how.  So tomorrow, we are shopping for a big bag for our dirty washing in Beverly  Hills.  I do not have a good feeling about this.

Mum doses off after a quick complaint about the feng shui of the room and Noah and I try to restore some sort of order to our lives.  Ha!

Good night lovely people
