Where I stayed
We have a lazy old day ahead and I for one am very, very excited about that. Now, the downside of wigwam accommodation is that they do not provide breakfast so we eat random things we bought yesterday when we couldn't really be bothered to shop. Elwood delights in eating cereal out of a paper cup and eating on his bed. We relish him eating without having to negotiate with him – so far we are winners in a wigwam.
We have a fabulous skype chat with Laoidhe, Esme and Elliot
Later in the day, Elwood told an interesting story about Aunty Laoidhe which is worth mentioning. He swears that one day Aunty Laoidhe put him in a sandwich and tried to eat him, and he had to wrestle his way out of the sandwich before she ate him up. He seemed quite serious so I suspect this is a true story. Laoidhe? I know that our diet is pretty hard core, but really...
We then have a quick chat with the fantastic Riley, Jayden and Laura. Elwood’s face lit up when he saw them and Elwood starting chatting straight away about his figures. He also got see their dog, Sebastian, which he was so excited about. (He quite often pretends he is walking Seb or that he is Seb!) He has not quite got his head around being able to see people, but not being able to play with them. When the girls were on the computer at one point Elwood was looking behind and under the computer, I am pretty sure he was trying to work out how to get to them. Jayden, on the other hand only seemed interested at looking at her own facial expressions on their screen – I think she might have even forgotten we were there. But when you are as good looking as the girls are, you can’t really blame them.
The fellas go for a swim and I attempt to finish yesterday’s blog with an unco-operative internet service. Grrrrrr.
Then we head out to the park as we spotted a fabulous park yesterday and we can remember where it is, so we are off. The park is brilliant and Elwood has a ball. Noah steps in gum and for some insane reason attempts to wipe it from his foot and flip flop with bark chips (what?). Basically the bark chips stick to the gum on Noah’s foot and he looks cross and I do my very best sympathetic face (which for the record is more smug than sympathy). (Noah has just pointed out I was actually laughing out loud. Whoops!)
Elwood still wants to play but he is way, way too hot to stay outside and he needs feeding. So we get him in the car and his head explodes when we go past a Burger King with an indoor play area. So we go in, get Elwood lunch and us caffeine (the wigwam does not have coffee facilities – going cold turkey is proving hard). All is going brilliantly until Elwood notices the play area is out of order and they have put things across the door. Elwood attempts to use brute force to move a bin about 5 times the size of him, when that fails; Noah leaps into action bearing Fireman Sam figures
We then went to a supermarket and bought the usual stuff, before coming home to wigwam central.
The plan was for me to make some arrangements for the imminent landing of The Mothership and the fellas to swim. But this plan was thrown into disarray when a documentary on Cheetahs came on TV and the little fella was instantly enthralled. So the fellas hung around in damp shorts and watched some crazy men frolic with cheetahs.
Soon, we were all out at the pool. The sunset was beyond beautiful. Elwood had his Fireman Sam Figures, Noah had his camera, and I had sun lounge by the pool. Everything is right with the world. Noah took many, many pictures of our sunny son in the pool. It was just one of those lovely moments in time that whizz by too quickly.
The boys played some football and I sat by the pool, and we all tried to pretend it wasn’t getting dark.
We had a very lazy dinner of sandwiches and carrot sticks, which was made all the better by Elwood’s cheerful mood and him announcing ‘We have everything we need’. Yes we do indeed. He is clever.
A small toy based casualty today, Station Officer Steel fell into a hole in the door frame and could not be retrieved
Elwood went to sleep beautiful and was pretty much charm brought to life. Except for his final words to us tonight when I was talking about what we are doing tomorrow. He just said, ‘I don’t want to go anywhere hot’. Oh dear....
