I was then extra happy when Elwood said I was the most beautiful girl in the world. He is sure going to be a charmer!
Bit of brekkie, and the boys swim, whilst I book stuff. Noah tells me the pool was freezing, and I have no reason to doubt him, given they both came back shaking and Elwood had blue-ish lips. I think it is character building for them both.
We then head into Grants which is a little goldmine for signs. We just love it. Despite the boarded up shops there is something about the place which makes it feel great to be there.
Shop fronts are really interesting; there are some real western ones, and also some real 50's neons
We stopped in a beautiful park where there was a fantastic climbing frame for woody, an amazing route 66 themed sculpture, as well as a pond and ducks. Elwood really enjoyed it and we all love it when the day begins with a bit of a leg stretch. Elwood was amazing in the park, climbing and leaping around – Noah and my hearts were in our mouths. He is so physically strong and clever – it constantly takes us by surprise.
Next we go on a scenic drive. Now for us, even the interstates in New Mexico are breathtaking, so when we read about a ‘scenic route’ to our next destination we knew it would be mind blowing. And it did not disappoint. We drove through Cibola National Forest, El Malpais National Monument, a Navajo Indian Reservation, and a Zuni Indian Reservation. We barely saw another car, and the landscape was so dramatic. Everything was amazing it was difficult to know where to look. We have settled into our car already, and have yet to make it smell of sausage. So that feels pretty good
So we check into our hotel in Gallup, have a bite to it, jump in the pool and get ready to go out
He awakes for a bit later for a few rounds of Toy Story games with Noah and something to eat, (whilst I book even more stuff!) – and then he is out like a light again.
He is tired today but so happy and such a delight.
We heard from the Mothership that our nieces, Riley and Jayden, are going to be singing with the choir at the Royal Albert Hall in November. We are absolutely thrilled for them and wish we could be there. Billericay friends, please do congratulate the girls when you see them. I am sure they will not mind posing for photos or signing autographs.
And that was it for today really. A nice easy going one for Woody was in order ( and for us too actually). The upshot of this is that we are $34 under budget today. High five!
We have some wonderful days ahead planned, and we are looking forward to so much!
