Pardon me boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?

Couple of things worth a mention...
Yes Mum, we will, as you say, ‘double our efforts to find the errant sausage in the car’ before you come see us. But I fear it may be too little too late. Please can you bring with you some of those tree shaped air fresheners? We have yet to cross New Mexico and I fear the Californian heat is not going to work in our favour.
And Lee, thank you also for your words of wisdom which I feel compelled to share. You were right when you said, ‘A clean pair of pants will also breed a sophisticated air of self confidence’. It has to be said, it felt good
Guess what? Noah is at the Laundromat right now with our big bag of funk. I am keeping things ticking over in the hotel room – you know, eating diet chocolate and drinking mini bottles of wine.
So, today. It began with a quick sugar fix for brekkie, and then Woody watched some tv whilst I made sandwiches, booked some hotels and organised our bits and pieces.
We got in the ‘wagon of stench’ and headed for Piedmont Park, Atlanta. Noah dropped Woody and I in the park and he headed off to coffee with a designer he has been in touch with. Noah arrived on time, in a clean shirt (he had been saving it), having had a shave, and without a band aid in sight. Winner.
Woody and I played in the park and razzed about in the fountain. He was so, so hot he did not have his normal Labrador-esque energy.
Once the family was reunited, we went for a restorative ice cream – Elwood was a sweaty mess, and struggling with the heat.
We had a bit of drive around some beautiful (and expensive) areas and then we were on our way to Chattanooga, Tennessee – of the Chattanooga Choo Choo fame. Noah says he has always wanted to go there (Mind you, he has never mentioned this prior to today. That man is a dark horse.) We have not seen the town centre yet – but, I tell you, we are so excited to be here
The other reason I am so excited (other than the mini bottles of wine) is that we had dinner in the Cracker Barrel Country Store tonight. I love it. It is cheesy and everything is ‘ye olde repro’. But I still love it. Rocking chairs on the front porch, southern food, patchwork quilts and old fashioned sweets. When we went to a Cracker Barrel last year we got so swept up in the moment we spent $300 on random stuff. I kid you not. This time, we do not have the dosh, or the luggage space – but we still loved the experience. I dare say it will not be out last Cracker Barrel this holiday.
A short walk across the car park and we were back home / hotel and in the pool. Lovely, lovely swim- the warmest so far – followed by a coffee chaser. Closely followed by a gorgeous, and fast asleep little boy.
So, that brings me to now. I am just waiting for the husband to return from the Laundromat with tales of success....
...Well, the husband has returned with a massive bounty of fresh smelling clothes. Only one casualty – one of Elwood’s ‘guns n roses’ tees had gone mouldy so ended up in the bin. Other than that, it's all good. Chattanooga will see us at our finest tomorrow.
