Where I stayed
Where to start? Elwood woke happy, we went for some coffee and toast and went down to the pool early. Too early, as it turned out. The guy was still cleaning it. So we all kept our slightly damp swimwear on, from last nights swim, for another 20 mins, until we could go and enjoy jumping around like loons in the water. That was lovely.
Life is good today!
We packed up and shipped out back to town which was as warm and sunny as you could wish for. We went to a couple of bars who already had musicians playing - it was barely midday by this point. Elwood not so much a fan of the solo performer as it turns out, as he kept asking Bree when the band was turning up
A hillbilly singer at Roberts Western World dedicated an old silly song about London to us which was nice, whilst Bree and I had our first fix of root beer for this trip. After 3 days on our last visit here, I had gone in pretty hard on the root beer, so my teeth were starting to ache, so I'm taking it easy this time.
We stuck our heads in at another couple of places but Woody really wanted to go back to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. We had stopped outside it yesterday (a few times) as he loved the decor. It's done like a beach bar with palm trees, turtles, drift wood and pelicans and plays lots of Mr Buffett's music along with other summery sounding stuff. Woody had mac and cheese, Bree a coffee, but she burst out laughing when I ordered my very macho sounding cocktail: Princess Marigold. How rude!
I continued to go a bit crazy with photos of the signs. I now have Woody trained and he is spotting signs for me.
After that, we had another quick look in Hatch Show Print where Woody tried in vain to tempt the cat from it's cardboard box hiding place. We then headed back to Legends bar, where there was a guy with a guitar singing country. He was good, but to make it even better he played Zac Brown Band's song Toes - it's a family favourite! Bree sang along whilst Woody and me 'danced'.
We left Nashville soon after with the sun in our hearts and eyes and set off on the biggest drive so far, not along Route 66, oh no, but to North Carolina to catch up with a friend
So, hum, sorry Chris, looks like we might not catch up after all. If we don't have a dash in the morning to see you, hope have a great trip, fella!
Woody slept for the first few hours of the drive but he woke as our drive took us through the Smokey Mountains. By this time it was about dusk, and they looked magnificent with the clouds/smoke poised over the road. It rained quite heavily a couple of times, but the sky would suddenly become crystal blue, or turn the sun light pink, it was very cool. The pics don't do it justice at all. It was breathtaking.
Right, for those who want to experience a little bit of the Smokys – here is our Smoky Mountain Playlist:

Bree and Woods have crashed out, so that's why you have my ramblings for today.
Have fun, friends and as the song says, adios and vaya con dios!
