  • Over the last few weeks / months we have...

    • Sold our house

    • Ebayed like mad people

    • Quit our jobs

    • Found a new home for our car

    • Put all our possesions on a boat to oz

    • Said all our goodbyes

    • And, cried buckets

So, the only thing there is left to do is to jump on a plane and get this crazy adventure underway.

We have always planned on returning to the 'lucky country'  and last year (on a trip to Tennessee) we decided we should go the 'scenic route' back to Australia.  So, our family Route 66 Road Trip was born.

We have about 5 weeks to get from Chicago to Los Angeles along Route 66 - with a couple of detours around Kentucky, Tennesse, South Carolina, Georgia and Las Vegas. We need to be at LAX 21st October to collect the Mothership (or else she will be most unimpressed) - but other than that, we are free as birds!

We then spend a week driving around California with the mothership.  This basically means driving the Mothership between wineries and making sure we don't run out of snacks.

Finally, we then head off for 3 glorious weeks in Hawaii where we intend to spend a great deal of time with our 'Toes in the water, ass in the sand'.

And them home, back to Brisbane - where we suspect the real world will hit us with a jolt! (Finances mean we will need to find somewhere to live and an income pretty quick smart!)

Now, that brings us to the small issue of dosh.  I say small, because we are attempting this adventure on (very) tight budget.  Excluding petrol we have $125 USD / day to spend on food, sight seeing, accomodation and keepsakes.  Now, I am only sharing this piece of information in an effort to help us stick to this budget.  So, this blog is likely to be filled stories of cheap and luminous roadside snacks and Noah filling his pockets with bagels at breakfast buffets.

So, in a nutshell, that's our story, for now....

To our friends and family in the UK - thank you for a fabulous decade of fun.  To our friends and family in Australia - fire up the barbie, we'll be there in no time!

    Much Love

    Bree, Noah, and Elwood xxx
