After a night in Lorrach, Germany, where we picked the specific campsite because it supposedly had Wifi, but low and behold guess what it didn't!! How annoying, & what was even more annoying was the fact that the guy that was running the campsite couldn't even be bothered to open reception, so if anyone needed any info they were a little buggered! Anyway, we only stayed for one night & then headed to Basel to meet my dad who was working there on business!
We thought we were too close not to pop in & see dad, & it saves us popping back into Switzerland after France, as we'll have seen what we want now instead! Stayed at a nice campsite, very quiet as they all seem to be at the mo, but only a 20 min tram ride into the centre of Basel - perfect! We did also make sure we paid this time, as we were warned by dad about them checking & also they're a bit hotter on transport here & I'm pretty sure we won't get away with not paying in future countries either - damn!!
We had a nice walk around Basel during the day, down by the Rhine, which was very picturesque! The Town Hall in the main square is very striking, & I've definitely decided which hotel to stay at when we next visit Basel - Paul best get saving as it looks a little pricey! We met with my dad in the evening & went for a lovely Italian at one of my dad's favourite haunts - he travels here quite a lot on business so knows his way around! We got filled in on all the gossip from home, along with all the footie news & tried not to dwell too much on all the depressing news - it could have gone on all night & after all we're still on holiday!
Beautiful meal with great company - Thanks Dad!xxx
