We picked Straubing because it is in a pretty part of Bavaria. Our hotel turned out to be at the back of a car hire place a fair way from town - need to pay more attention during the booking I guess. Anyway, the hotel wasn't too bad, though we had to drive into the town.
Straubing itself is quite a nice medium sized town (50k ppl) and worth a visit. We bought some little knives, tweezers etc from a stall in the market - it had some really great knives that I am not sure we'd get back through customs! We bought some cold stff for dinner and a candle and had a candlelight dinner in the hotel room - how romantic am I heh?
