We stayed overnight just outside Assisi on our way to the Amalfi coast.  Assisi was interesting and appeared to be maintained and reasonably clean unlike most of what we have seen so far.  The building appear ancient, but remain habitable - I guess through keeping up with repairs.

The view you get from the hill overlooking Assisi are worth the climb.

We had lunch in a restaurant set back into a rocky cliff.  No windows - just ceiling lamps.  A nice rustic ambiance but some of the modcons were problematic, like the plumbing.
